November Highlight: RE Sources
NOVEMBER NONPROFIT HIGHLIGHT: RE SOURCES
“A Bellingham-based nonprofit, RE Sources gives people practical ways to make a real difference for the planet, from passing stronger laws that protect the environment and empowering youth voices, to holding polluters accountable, to reducing waste and providing jobs training through The RE Store.”
RE Sources has been a leader in environmental advocacy since 1982. This nonprofit organization is dedicated to protecting the land, water, and climate of Northwest Washington, especially in the central Salish Sea region. Their mission is to mobilize people to build just and thriving communities while safeguarding the ecosystems we all rely on.
RE Sources is guided by values that include accountability, justice, interdependence, and impact. They emphasize science-based solutions and community collaboration to address climate and environmental challenges. The organization focuses on several core priorities: combating climate change, protecting marine and freshwater ecosystems, reducing pollution, promoting waste reduction, and educating all ages about sustainable practices.
Through its community engagement efforts, RE Sources offers tools, training, and opportunities for residents to influence environmental policy. Their work also includes watchdog efforts, holding polluters and decision-makers accountable. A notable program of RE Sources is The RE Store, a nonprofit retail outlet that diverts millions of pounds of reusable building materials from landfills and offers hands-on job training.
RE Sources also prioritizes equity and justice, recognizing that marginalized communities are disproportionately impacted by environmental decline. By addressing these disparities, they aim to ensure that everyone can benefit from clean energy, healthy ecosystems, and safe communities.
Aslan is matching all donations made to RE Sources through our online and in-house round up program (up to $2,000) throughout November.
