December Highlight: Make.Shift
DECEMBER NONPROFIT HIGHLIGHT: MAKE.SHIFT
Nestled in the heart of Bellingham, Washington, Make.Shift Art Space stands as a vibrant, all-ages hub dedicated to fostering creativity and inclusivity. Since its inception in 2008, this nonprofit has been a cornerstone for local artists and musicians. Make.Shift offers a dynamic mix of programs, including an art gallery, live music venue, affordable art studios, band practice spaces, weekly workshops, and the community radio station KZAX 94.9.
At its core, Make.Shift is committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment where art and music are accessible to all. This ethos is reflected in their diverse programming, which includes substance-free concerts, community workshops, and the Free Open Mic held on the second Saturday of each month.
Beyond its regular offerings, Make.Shift actively engages with the broader community through initiatives like the Mural Project. In collaboration with the Whatcom County Crisis Stabilization Center, they have curated murals to create a calming and inviting atmosphere for individuals seeking support. This project highlights Make.Shift's dedication to using art as a tool for healing and community connection.
Make.Shift provides various opportunities to get involved. Whether you're an artist, musician, or simply someone who appreciates the arts, they welcome you to explore their programs, attend events, or contribute to their mission. By doing so, you become part of a community that believes in the power of art and music!
Aslan is matching all donations made to Make.Shift through our online and in-house round up program (up to $2,000) throughout December.
